Investment on AkshayTritiya

AkshayaTritiya is celebrated on the third day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishakha.Aksaya (Sanskrit) means inexhaustible, that which never lessens or deteriorates. AkshayaTritiya is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar and is considered ideal for the start of new ventures and investment.
AkshayaTritiyahas many tales and lores associated with it and is considered a significant day for a number of reasons.
It is the day when “Treta Yuga” is believed to have started. It is on this day Lord Vishnu took the Parshuram avatar. On this day, Veda Vyasa began the composition of the Mahabharata. It is believed that Sage Vyasa started narrating Mahabharata to Ganesha on this day.
In South India, it is believed that birth of Balram, elder brother of Lord Krishna, happened on the day.
Another legend has it that, Ganga River appeared on earth on this day.
Some celebrate this day because, It is believed that when the Pandavas were in exile, the Lord presented them a bowl which was named AkshayaPatraon Tritiya day; That bowl was never empty and produced an unlimited amount of food on demand.
This is also one of the most popular days for weddings to be solemnized,  as the spirit of this day bids them on a very long and fulfilling life journey. It was also believed that people born in that month will be very lucky and will shine bright throughout their life.
The most famous of the AkshayaTritiya stories is the legend of Lord Krishna and Sudama, his poor Brahmin childhood friend. On this day, the tale goes, Sudama came over to Lord Krishna’s palace to request him for some financial help. It is believed that Sudama met Krishna at Dwaraka on the sacred day of AkshayaTritiya.
As a gift for his friend, Sudama had nothing more than a handful of beaten rice or ‘poha’. He was utterly ashamed to give it to Lord Krishna, but Lord Krishna took the pouch of ‘poha’ from him and relished having it.
Lord Krishna followed the principle of ‘AtithiDevoBhava’ or ‘the guest is like God’ and treated Sudama like a king. His poor friend was so overwhelmed by the warmth and hospitality shown by Lord Krishna, that he could not ask for the financial favor and came home empty handed.
However When Sudama reached his home, Sudama’s old hut had been transformed into a palace! He found his family dressed in royal attire and everything had been changed, by the Grace of the Lord. Sudama knew that it was a boon from Lord Krishna, who blessed him with more than the wealth he actually intended to ask for.
Thus, AkshayaTritiya is associated with material gains and wealth acquisition.
In the Indian culture, AkshayaTritiya is considered as the most golden day of the year because the word Akshaya means the most "Eternal" that which never diminishes. Any initiative made on that day or anything bought on that day is considered to result in good fortune. The most popular activity is the buying of gold and it is believed it will be a sign of good fortune for the buyer.
Purchasing gold, the ultimate symbol of prosperity and wealth, is an age-old tradition practiced on AkshayaTritiya, as this is considered an auspicious day for new beginnings.
However, a risk and return comparison of Gold (INR, per gram) and Sensex data over the last 40 years reveals that gold is a high-risk, low-reward investment!

Hence, is buying Gold really a good idea from the investment standpoint?
Any comparison of the return of different asset classes over the last 20/30/40 years will clearly show that nothing can beat equity in terms of returns in the long run provided you have the conviction to withstand the volatility in the short term.

In fact, your decision to invest should be in consultation with your financial advisor and based solely with the target of balancing the risk and return in your portfolio and achieving your financial goals.
Make a fresh investment or start your investment journey, Be wise with your choice of Investment this AkshayaTritaya and have a rewarding year ahead.

Happy Investing!
Stay Blessed Forever
